Test Kitchen

OddKnock’s initiative of experiential mess making: a rolling residency for physical theater artists to dive in and juice the fruit of their curiosities in an experimental, provocative play space. Kitted out with materials to catalyze wildness and quirky storytelling, Test Kitchen provides a consent-based space for honest conversation and collaboration.

Over the span of four months, OddKnock Productions will take residency within the RiNo Arts District in Denver, CO and transform an empty 3,700 square foot storefront into an immersive performance venue, designed to host a calendar of unique events that provoke and inspire.

Each Test Kitchen will be written, directed, and devised in collaboration with a local cast and design team, to create three work-in-progress showcases of new immersive theater productions. These productions build on OddKnock’s award-winning experience designing and building immersive theater that reignites the imagination of audiences and invites them to contribute to the story unfolding around them.

In this iteration, OddKnock is looking to expand Test Kitchen’s offerings from a residency program to an outfitted immersive venue designed to host a full calendar of unique events that provoke and inspire. Already, OddKnock has secured a 3,700 square foot storefront in partnership with EDENS Properties, as well as $20,000 in seed funding to kickstart the venue’s development.

To fully realize our vision, we are seeking an additional $20K in donations to build out the creative team, hire a local cast, and invest in the live production infrastructure that will make Test Kitchen shine.

With the support of a generous anonymous donor, OddKnock is launching a $10,000 matching campaign through the month of September. That means that every donation up to $10,000 will be matched automatically, doubling its impact, and bringing us closer to our goal.

2021 Recap

In partnership with the Denver RiNo Arts District’s “No Vacancy” programming, the inaugural run of Test Kitchen occupied a 4,000 square foot warehouse from July - September 2021. Together, with 16 performing artists from around the country, OddKnock produced 5 full length shows, each uniquely crafted from the cast’s chemistry and artistic instincts.
