Cryptic is a collaboration between OddKnock Productions and Fictive, a new creative venture by technologist and artist Cody Borst. This collaboration brings together OddKnock’s performer-drive immersive theater with Borst’s tech-fueled interactive experiences - as seen across Meow Wolf, award-winning escape room, and large-scale installations. Cryptic merges live performance with cutting-edge technologies to embody a tale rich with mystery, adventure, and ancient power. 

In Cryptic, audiences of 10 people are invited onto a guided tour of a quirky roadside attraction: The Cryptic Keep, a site built around the discovery of ruins and artifacts with unknown origins. Covered in mysterious symbols that do not belong to any known civilization, the Keep has inspired a wealth of conspiracy theories. In its heyday, researchers and tourists alike flocked to piece together clues and witness the unexplainable. Once brimming with spectacle and intrigue, The Cryptic Keep is now a forgotten artifact itself, managed by a few faithful, exuberant staff members who run tours only for small groups.

But the shimmering symbols etched into the Keep’s architecture hint at something deeper. Beneath the surface, the walls whisper of a power waiting to be discovered… harnessed… unleashed. On this tour, on this day, the symbols may finally reveal their true meaning and our group may solve a mystery centuries in the making.
